As part of the government’s cautious roadmap to lift restrictions, businesses of all sizes, now
including those with fewer than 50 employees are eligible to order free rapid lateral flow test kits.
The testing kits will be sent out to businesses, to enable those businesses to maintain regularly
testing employees, at least twice a week.
We now know that 1 in 3 people with coronavirus don’t display any symptoms, this could
inadvertently continue the spread of the virus in workplaces. These new lateral flow test kits offer a
rapid test, that detects cases in under 30 minutes – meaning positive cases can quickly be isolated,
breaking the chain of transmission.
Regular testing could be the difference between a workplace being able to stay open and
operational, or needing to close due to a COVID-19 outbreak. This is a hugely important part of the
government’s plan to continue to gradually and safely ease restrictions.
South East London Chamber of Commerce are proud to have signed up and submitted their
application to join the scheme, and we’re delighted to be doing our small part to helping Britain’s
businesses on the roadmap to recovery.
Businesses beware through, as you’ve only got until 31st March 2021 to register for the
Government’s free workplace testing scheme, which will continue to be run for free until the end of
June.
Over 3,500 businesses have signed up to offer workplace testing programmes, and over 14,000 have
registered their interest in offering rapid testing. and want to remind our members and the
