GCDA Launches Crowdfunding Campaign for New Community Hub

3 Aug, 2023

The Greenwich Cooperative Development Agency (GCDA), a well respected community organisation based in South East London, is seeking to raise £10,000 via a crowdfunding campaign. The goal is to transform its newly acquired hub in central Greenwich into a welcoming, multifunctional space that will be open for everyone.

The proposed new hub, located within the Old Police Station redevelopment on Royal Hill, is currently an empty shell. The funds from the campaign will help to establish a fully accessible classroom, training kitchen, shop, café, and office, all of which will greatly benefit the local community.

GCDA’s CEO, Claire Pritchard, is passionate about the project, emphasising GCDA’s commitment to supporting community members to realise their potential. The new central hub will allow GCDA to be more accessible than ever, providing an open space for everyone.

Contributors to the crowdfunding campaign will not only provide financial assistance; their support will also enable the fit-out of the new hub with necessary amenities, including plaster and paint, kitchen units, retail shelving, and accessible toilets.

GCDA, a not-for-profit organisation that began as a co-op four decades ago, has made significant contributions to the local community. They manage community centres, provide free training, support local entrepreneurs, foster social enterprises, and run a plethora of food-related projects.

Among GCDA’s ventures is the award-winning Made in Greenwich shop, which has so far generated nearly £40,000 in profits for Greenwich-based creatives. The shop is scheduled to move to the new hub in January next year, providing an additional reason to support this initiative.

No donation is too small to help GCDA achieve its £10,000 goal, as every contribution brings them a step closer to realising this dream. If you are interested in supporting GCDA and their work in the community,
