Back to Business at Breakfast with Gareth Bacon

5 Nov, 2021

We were delighted to welcome Gareth Bacon MP to our recent Business Breakfast meeting and the Member of Parliament for Orpington and the Conservative Ambassador for Small Businesses in Greater London gave us a fascinating update on Government thinking and the help set out for the road to business recovery.

Gareth has been generously working in close contact with the Chamber since Autumn last year, regularly chairing round-table discussions with small groups of local businesses. This has been instrumental in providing him with a picture of the practical experience of various business sectors during the pandemic and subsequent economic downturn. He went into greater depth focusing on attendees questions looking at subjects such as the recent logistical challenges in the UK which have impacted London business perhaps most of all.

We had an excellent turn out and were joined by a number of representatives from our Strategic Partners, including Group Louise Wolsey – Chief Transformation Officer from London & South East Education Group, Rosemary Nunn – Director of Knowledge Management and Innovation Solutions, Linda Hyder – Knowledge Transfer Partnership Manager at University of Greenwich, Christofi Christou, Economic Inclusion Manager of Peabody London. We were treated to a delicious full English Breakfast at the beautiful Clarendon Hotel, set on the edge of Blackheath, South East London.
